I found a nice seed which produces really wild and steep mountains and lots of caves. I also noticed interesting differences between the world generation of Minecraft 1.8.1 and 1.9 pre 2 when using this seed. The seed is this:
annual

Let's begin with some pictures, shall we? This is the initial spawn point in both 1.8.1 and 1.9 pre 2. See the hole on the right? It's an easy access to an abandoned mine shaft.
Pumpkins can be found quite near the initial spawn point.
x = -200, z = 195 |
The following pictures are taken in 1.9.1 pre 2. The scenery might look a bit different if you are using a different version (e.g. 1.8.1).
x = -150, z = 215 |
x = -85, z = 200 |
x = -35, z = -235 |
x = -170, z = -460 |
x = -65, z = -240 |
I recommend giving this seed a try. The generated world is much more beautiful than my screenshots can show.
Anyway, let's move on to the interesting differences in the world generation.
Look at the pictures below. They are both generated using Minutor and they are both worlds created using the seed 'annual.' You can see the similarities, right? (Click 'em for larger versions, like always.)
1.8.1 |
1.9 pre 2 |
The desert village is around x = 275, z = 355 by the way. The another village, which can be found in 1.8.1 only, is around x = -205, z = 550.
So what's so interesting? Well, look at them. They look so similar yet so different. That is interesting. :-) And those areas are just near the spawn point.
These isometric maps are not too great, but because I already generated them, I wanted to share them with you.
